I played this album so much back then...wore it out got another, some gal took with her out west and I bought another....found one bindiving last week and bought it again....just for this tune with Allman's on it!

Martino Oberto (1925-2011)

Martino Oberto passed away yesterday, June 22nd, 2011.

Born in 1925, Oberto ("OM") was a visual poet, asemic writer, anarchist, anartist, founder of the seminal vispo mag "Ana etcetera" (1958-70). His works have been exposed in solo and collective shows (with Munari, Dorfles, Fontana and many others) from the 50s up to now. He also made experimental movies, and wrote philosophical essays about writing & art. He lived in New York for a decade or so, then came back to Genoa in the 90s. His visions and projects of "powerless words" and "anart" [something like "anti-art"] are absolutely relevant, right now, even if they belong to his 1968 short movie "Before anarchism (freedom from culture)".

The one and only song I ever learned how to strum along to...got the whistle down and did a passable singing of it...but the pickin' really failed me....I had to think....grins!

Welcome to the Text Festival.

The Text Festival in Bury is an internationally recognised event investigating contemporary language art (poetry, text art, sound and media text, live art). Opening on 29 April 2011, the next Festival will be its third manifestation and run into July.

Against the background of global stylistic multiplicity, the use of language spans many artforms and may even be a unifying field of enquiry, a new definition and a new field of international linguistic art practice and dialogue. The Bury Festival is the leading focus of language in 21st Century art.

The Festival specialises in experiments, in new experiences, in performances and exhibitions that mix artforms in ground-breaking combinations that challenge traditional language art boundaries and offer artists a forum for dialogue and exchange of ideas.
